Embracing the Fylde Coast’s Cinematic Spirit: My Journey with the Lytham International Film Festival

I am incredibly proud to announce my partnership with the 2024 Lytham International Film Festival, a beacon of creative excellence on the Fylde Coast. As Lancashire’s premiere film festival, it’s a vibrant celebration of filmmaking talent from across the globe, set against the picturesque backdrop of Lytham, a town steeped in and culture. This year’s festival promises to be a thrilling ride for filmmakers and audiences alike, and I’m honored to be a part of it.

A Platform for Global Talent

The Lytham International Film Festival is not just an event; it’s a movement that brings together a global community of rising filmmakers. It’s where fresh voices are heard, and bold storytelling is celebrated. Whether it’s a short film that leaves audiences breathless or a feature-length work that sparks deep conversations, the festival is committed to showcasing originality and imagination in all its forms.

Running from August 23rd to 25th at the iconic Lowther Pavilion in Lytham St. Annes, this year’s festival is set to be an unforgettable experience. With a diverse lineup of screenings, filmmaker events, award ceremonies, Q&A sessions, and talks, it’s an immersive journey into the world of cinema. Add to that the enticing food, drink, and entertainment offerings, and it’s clear that the Lytham International Film Festival is not to be missed.

A New Online Presence for the Festival

As part of my involvement with the festival, I’ve been commissioned to create a dynamic and engaging new website. This platform will be the digital heart of the festival, reflecting its spirit and energy while providing an intuitive, user-friendly experience for filmmakers and fans alike. I’m excited to bring the festival’s vision to life online, ensuring that it reaches a global audience and continues to grow in influence and prestige.

A Special Screening: Changing Tides

This year’s festival holds a particularly special significance for me as one of my films, Changing Tides, will be screening at the event. Produced alongside the talented team at House of Tales and written and directed by Kathryn Georghiou, Changing Tides is a gritty, realistic social drama that explores themes of alcoholism and abandonment.

The film tells the story of Bea, a feisty and streetwise young woman in her early 20s who works as a domestic carer. Her new patient, Aiden, is a bitter alcoholic in his late 50s or early 60s who uses intimidation as a shield. But Bea is determined not to let him break her spirit. As their relationship evolves, the power dynamics shift, and a fragile bond forms between them, grounded in dark humor and mutual understanding.

Changing Tides is a film that doesn’t shy away from the harsh realities of life. It’s a powerful narrative that challenges viewers to look beyond the surface and consider the struggles that people face every day. I’m immensely proud of the work we’ve done on this project, and I’m thrilled that it will be part of the Lytham International Film Festival’s official selection.
